About the Author
Now that you’ve made it this far, can I stop writing about myself in the third person? Great, excellent, thank you.
I was raised in the hilly suburbs of the greater Seattle area, in the ever-lovely, often gloomy Pacific Northwest. From the moment I first picked up a book I became enamored with stories, and was constantly encouraged to pursue my passion for craft- both as a reader and a writer. My mom filled my childhood bookshelves with stories about dragons, wizards, and scoundrels. My dad brought me into his colorful world of comics and caped crusaders with enthusiasm. And if I asked, they never said no to a book.
Whether I was prowling the aisles of book shops, or lost among the stacks at the local comic store, I was never denied the opportunity to find new stories. So when I made the natural transition to writing them, my parents read each one with as much enthusiasm as my eight year old self needed to keep on going. They even kept the first edition of Stick Figure Comics. Sold for one dollar. Still in mint condition.
I have always wanted to be a writer. That has never changed, but the passion took a back seat until I became a father. It became more of a dream than a goal- until I had a true reason to pursue it. A Nameless Blade is not my first attempt, but it was the only story tenacious enough to stick with me until I eventually figured out how to tell it right. This novel was patient with me. It let me take my time.
Heyren, Diasmont, Eliswyn and all the others let me grow alongside them as I grew in life and as a writer. That growth has led me here, to the Ashes of a Throne trilogy. One day it will take me even further. For now, thanks for joining me.
An unapologetic fan of stormy nights and dark roast coffee, I am constantly inspired and motivated by my wife, Delainey, and our three children. We live tucked away in the woods of the Pacific Northwest.
